Introduction
The Grace of the Unfinished is the third album in Museca’s developing body of Universal Gospel music—a spiritual and musical form that preserves the transformational architecture of gospel while shifting its lyrical center toward remembrance, inner communion, allowance, oneness, and embodied joy. In Universal Gospel, the journey is not primarily from unworthiness toward redemption, but from forgetfulness toward awareness, from resistance toward participation, and from separation toward belonging.
The first Universal Gospel Suite asked the listener to remember: to recognize an inherent connection with the sacred that had never truly been lost. The Kingdom Within turned that recognition inward, asking where the Divine might be found when the search outside oneself grows quiet. The Grace of the Unfinished carries the idea one step further.
Its question is more difficult:
What happens when we remember who we are, but still do not know what will happen?
Awareness does not eliminate uncertainty. A person may feel deeply connected to life and still face unanswered questions, unfinished relationships, changing circumstances, unrealized dreams, grief, waiting, aging, or a future that refuses to explain itself in advance. Spiritual understanding does not necessarily provide the missing ending.
This album therefore explores a different kind of grace: the grace of living before everything has been resolved.
Its central proposition is simple:
An unfinished life is not an incomplete life.
We often imagine peace as something waiting for us beyond resolution—after the answer arrives, after the decision is made, after the relationship becomes clear, after the difficult season passes, after the future reveals itself. Yet life is almost always unfinished while we are living it. There is always another page, another question, another relationship still becoming, another road disappearing beyond what can presently be seen.
The spiritual challenge may therefore not be to eliminate uncertainty, but to discover whether we can remain fully present within it.
Across nine songs, The Grace of the Unfinished traces that discovery.
“I Thought I Had to Know” begins with the belief that certainty is necessary for safety. “Enough for This Step” discovers that the whole road need not be visible before movement can begin. “Open Hands” turns release into a physical act: the loosening of the grip with which we attempt to control life. “Let Tomorrow Be Tomorrow” asks whether the future can be allowed to arrive in its own time.
At the center of the album, the title song, “The Grace of the Unfinished,” enters stillness. Here the music does not attempt to solve what remains unresolved. Instead, it asks whether something can remain unfinished and still be worthy of love, meaning, and reverence.
From there the album turns outward.
In “Stay Here With Me,” another human being enters the uncertainty—not with explanations, but with presence. “We Carry the Question” enlarges that insight into community, suggesting that people do not need identical answers in order to belong together. Unity, in the language of Universal Gospel, is not sameness but harmony: distinct voices retaining their individuality while participating in something larger.
Only after that journey does celebration become possible.
In “Still I Say Yes,” joy does not arise because every problem has been solved. It arises because the singer chooses to participate in life anyway. The final song, “Still We Sing,” returns to the unanswered question with a changed relationship to it. The future remains open. The story remains unfinished. Yet love, presence, community, and song continue.
Musically, the album expands the Universal Gospel language into a warmer, earthier chamber gospel-soul palette: gospel piano, Hammond organ, Rhodes, warm bass, brushed and live drums, cello and viola, restrained brass, intimate solo voices, duets, and increasingly communal choir. The gospel inheritance remains audible not merely through instrumentation but through the deeper grammar of testimony, call and response, repetition, rhythmic embodiment, harmonic movement, choir participation, and transformation.
The choir plays a particularly important role in this album. It does not always proclaim certainty. At times it simply remains. Its responses evolve from “Stay near” to “We’re here” to “We carry it together.” Community becomes not the source of an answer, but the assurance that the question does not have to be carried alone.
The lyrical language also deliberately turns toward the ordinary: hands, chairs, tables, pages, weather, footsteps, rooms, roads, morning, work, breath, and unfinished sentences. Universal Gospel remains spiritual, but the sacred is encountered here within common human experience rather than separated from it. This reflects the compositional principle that future Universal Gospel works should continue expanding their imagery rather than relying endlessly on the same established metaphors.
The Grace of the Unfinished does not ask the listener to pretend that uncertainty is comfortable, that every loss contains an obvious lesson, or that everything happens according to an easily understood plan. It asks something quieter and perhaps more demanding:
Can we live fully before we know?
Can we love without possessing?
Can we move without seeing the whole road?
Can we remain together without agreeing on every answer?
Can we call a life sacred while it is still becoming?
The album’s final answer is not an explanation.
It is a song.
And the song is still becoming.
Listeners who would like to continue exploring the Universal Gospel tradition can also hear Museca’s first two Universal Gospel albums on the website: The Universal Gospel Suite, the foundational five-phase realization of the form, and The Kingdom Within: A Universal Gospel, a more intimate inward cycle centered on discovering the sacred within. Together with The Grace of the Unfinished, these works form an evolving body of Universal Gospel music, each approaching remembrance, presence, unity, and spiritual transformation from a different perspective.

Liner Notes
I Thought I Had to Know
The journey begins with a familiar bargain we make with life: If I can only know what happens next, perhaps I can finally feel safe. The song inhabits that tension without rushing to resolve it. The singer has spent years attempting to anticipate every turn, believing that certainty might protect her from disappointment, loss, or change.
But beneath the questions, something simpler remains: she is still breathing, still standing, still here. The choir enters only near the end, not to reveal the future but to answer the fear beneath the need to know: “You are here.”
The first awakening is therefore modest but decisive. Uncertainty does not necessarily mean abandonment. Not knowing may simply be where life begins.
Lyrics
[Verse 1]
I kept tomorrow on the table,
Turning every page before its time.
I thought if I could read the ending,
I could keep this restless heart in line.
I measured every door before me,
Counted every step I couldn’t see.
As if the road had made a promise
To explain itself to me.
[Pre-Chorus]
I called the questions danger.
I called uncertainty a wall.
I thought an answer had to catch me
Before I let myself fall.
[Chorus]
I thought I had to know,
I thought I had to see,
I thought tomorrow owed an answer
Before it carried me.
But here I am, still breathing,
With no map inside my hand.
Maybe not knowing isn’t falling.
Maybe this is where I stand.
[Verse 2]
The morning never asks permission.
Weather changes while I sleep.
Some doors open without warning.
Some promises are mine to keep.
And some belong to roads still turning
Far beyond the edge of sight.
Maybe life was never asking
Me to hold tomorrow tight.
[Pre-Chorus]
I still can feel the wanting,
The need to name what comes and goes.
But something quiet keeps reminding me:
I can live before I know.
[Chorus]
I thought I had to know,
I thought I had to see,
I thought tomorrow owed an answer
Before it carried me.
But here I am, still breathing,
With no map inside my hand.
Maybe not knowing isn’t falling.
Maybe this is where I stand.
[Bridge]
There are questions still unanswered.
There are endings I can’t write.
There are roads that disappear
Before they turn toward morning light.
I won’t pretend I’m fearless.
I won’t say I understand.
But I am here.
And here is somewhere I can stand.
[Final Chorus]
I thought I had to know—
You are here.
I thought I had to see—
You are here.
I thought tomorrow owed an answer
Before it carried me.
You are here.
And here I am, still breathing,
With no map inside my hand.
Still here.
Maybe not knowing isn’t falling.
Still here.
Maybe this is where I stand.
[Outro]
You are here.
You are here.
I don’t know what comes tomorrow.
You are here.
And for tonight—
I’m here.
Enough for This Step
Once the demand for certainty loosens, movement becomes possible.
“Enough for This Step” replaces the imagined burden of the entire road with the reality of the ground immediately beneath us. We often postpone living because we cannot see far enough ahead. Yet no journey is actually traveled all at once. It is lived one movement, one breath, one decision at a time.
The recurring refrain—“Enough for this step”—turns that realization into a communal practice. The choir does not promise that the road will be easy or even visible. It affirms something smaller and more useful: there is enough for the movement that is required now.
Trust begins not with certainty about the destination, but with willingness to take the next step.
Lyrics
[Verse 1]
I kept looking down the roadway,
Trying to see around each bend.
Counting miles I hadn’t traveled,
Trying to know where they would end.
But the floor is here beneath me,
And my breath is here somehow.
Maybe I don’t need the distance.
Maybe I just need the now.
[Pre-Chorus]
One foot finds the ground,
Then another follows through.
I don’t have to walk tomorrow.
I have only this to do.
[Chorus]
Enough for this step.
Enough for this step.
Enough for this breath.
Enough for this breath.
I don’t need the whole road
To open up yet.
Not yet.
There is enough—
Enough.
There is enough for this step.
[Verse 2]
A hand can find the railing.
A door can open slow.
A path can turn beyond me
Without telling me where it goes.
I spent so long preparing
For a day that wasn’t here.
Now I feel my feet beneath me,
And the ground is drawing near.
[Pre-Chorus]
I don’t need a guarantee.
I don’t need the final view.
Life is asking for this moment,
Not the mile I haven’t moved.
[Chorus]
Enough for this step.
Enough for this step.
Enough for this breath.
Enough for this breath.
I don’t need the whole road
To open up yet.
Not yet.
There is enough—
Enough.
There is enough for this step.
[Bridge]
I used to call the unknown empty.
But empty isn’t always gone.
Sometimes the next piece of the journey
Appears because I carried on.
I cannot see the whole way.
I don’t need to.
Not today.
I only need enough
To take the step that’s here.
[Vamp]
This step.
Enough.
This breath.
Enough.
This moment.
Enough.
I don’t need tomorrow yet.
Enough for this step.
One step.
Enough.
Then one more.
Enough.
Let the road become the road
As I walk it.
Enough for this step.
[Final Chorus]
Enough for this step.
Enough for this step.
Enough for this breath.
Enough for this breath.
I don’t need the whole road
To open up yet.
Not yet.
There is enough—
Enough.
There is enough for this step.
[Outro]
Enough for this step.
I don’t have to see it all.
Enough for this step.
Just enough ground
For where I am.
Enough.
Enough.
Open Hands
If the previous song teaches movement without certainty, “Open Hands” asks what must be released in order for that movement to continue.
The clenched hand becomes the central image of control: holding plans too tightly, protecting imagined outcomes, resisting change, and confusing possession with security. Yet the same hand that refuses to release also struggles to receive.
Here allowance becomes physical. Fingers loosen. Space appears. What can remain is permitted to remain; what must move is allowed to move.
The gospel groove brings the realization into the body. The choir’s repeated “Open hands” becomes less an instruction than a shared rhythm of release.
Surrender in this song is not defeat. It is the creation of room.
Lyrics
[Verse 1]
I held so tight to every answer,
Kept a fist around each plan.
Tried to keep the world from changing,
Tried to hold what no one can.
Every door became a question,
Every change became a test.
I was carrying tomorrow
Like a weight against my chest.
[Pre-Chorus]
Then I felt my fingers loosening,
One by one, without a fight.
Maybe I don’t have to hold it
For the moment to be right.
[Chorus]
Open hands.
Open hands.
I don’t have to hold so tight.
Open hands.
What can stay will stay beside me.
Let it stay.
What must leave can take its flight.
Let it go.
I can meet whatever finds me—
Open hands.
Open hands.
[Verse 2]
There are things I cannot hurry.
There are knots I cannot pull.
There are rooms that only open
When I stop pushing at the door.
I can care without controlling.
I can love without a claim.
I can let the weather change me
Without needing it to stay.
[Pre-Chorus]
Every finger I uncurl—
Let it go.
Makes a little room inside.
Make some room.
Maybe trust is not a feeling.
Maybe trust is how I hold my life.
[Chorus]
Open hands.
Open hands.
I don’t have to hold so tight.
Open hands.
What can stay will stay beside me.
Let it stay.
What must leave can take its flight.
Let it go.
I can meet whatever finds me—
Open hands.
Open hands.
[Bridge]
I used to think surrender
Meant giving something up.
But maybe there is nothing lost
When I release the grip.
A hand that will not open
Cannot welcome what may come.
So I loosen.
I listen.
And I leave some room.
[Vamp]
Open—
Hands!
Loosen—
Your hands!
Make room—
Make room!
Let what comes, come through.
Open hands!
No grabbing—
Open hands!
No forcing—
Open hands!
I can love without holding.
Open hands!
I can move without knowing.
Open hands!
I release what isn’t mine to carry.
Open hands!
I make room for what is here.
Open hands!
I don’t have to grip tomorrow.
Open hands!
I’m already standing here.
Open hands!
[Final Chorus]
Open hands.
Open hands.
I don’t have to hold so tight.
Open hands.
What can stay will stay beside me.
Let it stay.
What must leave can take its flight.
Let it go.
I can meet whatever finds me—
Open hands.
Open hands.
[Outro]
I don’t know what’s coming.
Open hands.
I don’t need to.
Open hands.
There’s room now.
There’s room.
There’s room.
Open hands.
Open hands.
Let Tomorrow Be Tomorrow
The future can become one of the most convincing places in which not to live.
We rehearse conversations that have not occurred, fear events that may never happen, construct possible endings, and carry emotional burdens borrowed from days that have not yet arrived.
“Let Tomorrow Be Tomorrow” gently returns attention to the present.
Its realization is not that planning is unnecessary or that the future should be ignored. Rather, preparation and anticipation are distinguished from occupation. We may care about tomorrow without attempting to live there today.
The song’s quiet wisdom is contained in its title: let tomorrow belong to tomorrow.
There is already enough life inside this hour.
Lyrics
[Verse 1]
I woke up living Thursday
While Wednesday filled the room,
Already solving questions
That hadn’t learned to bloom.
I carried conversations
No one had even said,
Built a dozen endings
And rehearsed them in my head.
[Pre-Chorus]
Tomorrow kept on calling,
But maybe it was me.
Running down a road
That wasn’t asking me to leave.
[Chorus]
Let tomorrow be tomorrow.
Let it be.
Let the morning come its way.
Let it come.
I don’t have to live the answer
Before I live today.
Today.
Let tomorrow be tomorrow.
Let tonight be where I stay.
Let it be.
Tomorrow doesn’t need me
To live it today.
[Verse 2]
I’ve borrowed grief from futures
That never came to pass.
I’ve held imaginary storms
Beneath a cloudless glass.
And sometimes what I worried
Turned out differently somehow.
The future made no promise
To become what I feared now.
[Pre-Chorus]
So I’ll give back all the hours
I was never meant to keep.
Tomorrow has its own sky.
Tonight has room to breathe.
[Chorus]
Let tomorrow be tomorrow.
Let it be.
Let the morning come its way.
Let it come.
I don’t have to live the answer
Before I live today.
Today.
Let tomorrow be tomorrow.
Let tonight be where I stay.
Let it be.
Tomorrow doesn’t need me
To live it today.
[Bridge]
I can prepare without pretending
That I know what hasn’t come.
I can care about the future
Without making it my home.
I can leave a chair for morning
Without sitting in it now.
There is life enough
Inside this hour.
This hour.
This breath.
This day.
[Final Chorus]
Let tomorrow be tomorrow.
Let it be.
Let the morning come its way.
Let it come.
I don’t have to live the answer
Before I live today.
Today.
Let tomorrow be tomorrow.
Let tonight be where I stay.
Let it be.
Tomorrow doesn’t need me
To live it today.
[Outro]
Morning will come when morning comes.
Let it come.
Tonight is here.
Stay here.
And this is enough.
This is enough.
Let tomorrow
be tomorrow.
The Grace of the Unfinished
At the center of the album is the question from which the entire work takes its name.
What if peace does not require completion?
There are relationships without satisfying conclusions, questions that remain unanswered, plans that stop becoming, words left unsaid, ambitions still developing, and portions of every life whose meaning may never become completely clear.
We often treat these as defects in the story—as though wholeness waits somewhere beyond the final explanation.
“The Grace of the Unfinished” offers another possibility:
Maybe grace is not completion.
The choir does not answer the unresolved questions. It remains beside them. Its quiet response—“Stay near”—becomes the spiritual function of the song.
An open ending need not be an empty one. Something may remain unfinished and still be loved, honored, remembered, and whole.
Lyrics
[Verse 1]
There are pages without endings,
Names I never learned to say.
Doors I thought would open
That are standing closed today.
There are questions on the table,
Letters folded in a drawer,
Things I thought would make sense
That don’t make sense anymore.
[Verse 2]
There are plans that stopped becoming,
Roads that ended in the rain.
There are words I meant to offer
That may never come again.
There are pieces still unfinished,
Lines that wander off the page.
And I used to call them failure.
Now I only call them
unfinished.
[Chorus]
Maybe grace is not completion.
Maybe grace is staying near.
Maybe wholeness isn’t waiting
At the ending of the year.
Maybe life can still be sacred
With a sentence left undone.
Maybe I can bless the story
Before the final line has come.
[Verse 3]
I have stood beside the endings
Trying to repair the past,
As if every broken pattern
Had to somehow be recast.
But some things remain unanswered.
Some goodbyes remain unclear.
Still the room can hold a silence
Without asking it to disappear.
[Pre-Chorus]
I don’t have to name the meaning.
I don’t have to make it whole.
Maybe something can be unfinished
And still belong inside my soul.
[Chorus]
Maybe grace is not completion.
Not completion.
Maybe grace is staying near.
Staying near.
Maybe wholeness isn’t waiting
At the ending of the year.
Not waiting.
Maybe life can still be sacred
With a sentence left undone.
Still sacred.
Maybe I can bless the story
Before the final line has come.
[Bridge]
I kept thinking peace would meet me
At the place where all was clear.
But peace has been sitting quietly
Beside the questions all these years.
Not fixing them.
Not answering them.
Not leaving.
Just staying.
[Final Verse]
There are pages still unwritten.
There are roads I cannot name.
There are things I may not finish.
They are not therefore in vain.
I can hold an open ending
Without turning it away.
I can love what is unfinished.
I can bless what is here today.
[Outro]
I don’t know the ending.
Stay near.
I don’t know the meaning.
Stay near.
I don’t know what comes after.
Stay near.
But this moment is still living.
Still here.
And unfinished
is not gone.
Stay Here With Me
After five songs of largely inward discovery, another human being enters the album.
The singer does not ask to be rescued. She asks for company.
“Stay Here With Me” explores a form of love that does not depend upon explanation. The second voice cannot promise that everything will work out, cannot interpret the meaning of the difficulty, and cannot provide the missing answer.
He can stay.
That changes everything.
The movement from “I’m here” to “You’re here” to “We’re here” transforms presence into communion. The choir gradually becomes the larger community surrounding two people who have chosen not to abandon one another merely because neither knows what comes next.
Sometimes love does not solve the night.
Sometimes it sits beside us until the night becomes bearable.
Lyrics
[Verse 1]
There are nights I don’t need answers,
I just need another chair.
Someone sitting at the table,
Someone willing to be there.
You don’t have to name the reason.
You don’t have to make it right.
You don’t have to find a doorway
Through everything tonight.
[Verse 2]
I don’t know what I could tell you
That would make the questions small.
I can’t promise where this leads us.
I can’t promise much at all.
But I can sit beside the silence.
I can listen while it stays.
I can share the weight between us
For a little while today.
[Pre-Chorus]
Don’t tell me it will all work out.
I won’t.
Don’t tell me what it means.
I can’t.
Just stay until the room feels
A little less unseen.
[Chorus]
Stay here with me.
I’m here.
You don’t have to fix the night.
I’ll stay.
We don’t have to find the answer
For this moment to be right.
Stay here with me.
We’re here.
Stay until the silence
Doesn’t feel so much like fear.
We’re here.
[Verse 3]
I used to think that being strong meant
Keeping every burden mine,
Closing doors before somebody
Saw the questions underneath.
Maybe strength is something different.
Maybe strength can make a place
Where another person’s sorrow
Doesn’t have to hide its face.
[Pre-Chorus]
You don’t need my explanations.
You don’t need mine.
We can leave the questions open.
Leave them open.
We can sit beside each other
Without crossing every line.
[Chorus]
Stay here with me.
I’m here.
You don’t have to fix the night.
I’ll stay.
We don’t have to find the answer
For this moment to be right.
Stay here with me.
We’re here.
Stay until the silence
Doesn’t feel so much like fear.
We’re here.
[Bridge]
Maybe love is not an answer.
Maybe love is staying near.
Maybe grace is not explaining
Why the road has brought us here.
Maybe nothing needs resolving
For a hand to find a hand.
Maybe being here together
Is enough to help us stand.
Will you stay?
I’m here.
[Vamp]
I don’t know.
I’m here.
I can’t see.
I’m here.
I don’t know how long this takes.
I’m here.
We’re here.
No answers.
We’re here.
No fixing.
We’re here.
Just a little room between us—
We’re here.
And enough love to remain.
We’re here.
[Final Chorus]
Stay here with me.
We’re here.
We don’t have to fix the night.
We’re here.
We don’t have to know the ending
For this moment to be right.
Stay here with me.
We’re here.
Stay until the silence
Becomes a place that we can share.
We’re here.
[Outro]
I still don’t know.
Neither do I.
But you’re here.
And you’re here.
We’re here.
We’re here.
We’re here.
We Carry the Question
The private uncertainty of the earlier songs now becomes communal.
“We Carry the Question” asks whether people can truly belong together without arriving at identical conclusions.
Different lives produce different questions. Different experiences produce different beliefs. Some people live with certainty; others live with doubt. Some have found language for what they understand; others are still searching for it.
Universal Gospel does not resolve unity by erasing those differences.
Instead, the song proposes harmony.
Just as distinct musical notes remain themselves while participating in a larger chord, human beings need not disappear into sameness in order to belong.
The central realization is therefore not “we all believe the same thing,” but something more generous:
We do not need one answer to know that we belong.
The question remains personal.
The carrying becomes communal.
Lyrics
[Verse 1]
I used to hide the questions
Like they proved I didn’t know.
Held them underneath the table,
Kept them where they wouldn’t show.
Then I heard another person
Say the words I couldn’t say:
“I don’t know what comes tomorrow,
But I’m still here today.”
[Verse 2]
I have carried different questions.
I have walked another road.
There are things that I believe in,
There are things I cannot know.
But I don’t need your answers
To recognize your face.
We can meet without agreement
And still make room for grace.
[Pre-Chorus]
Your road isn’t mine.
Mine isn’t yours.
Your questions may be different.
Still we share the floor.
We don’t have to name one ending
For everyone who enters through the door.
[Chorus]
We carry the question.
Carry it together.
We carry the question.
No one carries alone.
Different roads beneath us—
Still we walk together.
Different words between us—
Still we make a home.
We don’t need one answer
To know that we belong.
We carry the question.
And we carry it along.
[Verse 3]
Some of us are certain.
Some of us still doubt.
Some have found a language.
Some are working theirs out.
Some come carrying laughter.
Some arrive with grief.
No one has to leave the table
For the way they understand belief.
[Verse 4]
I can tell you what I’ve lived.
I can tell you what I’ve seen.
I can tell you where I’m standing.
But I cannot tell you what your life must mean.
[Pre-Chorus]
Bring your question.
Bring it here.
Bring your wonder.
Bring it here.
Bring the things you haven’t settled.
Bring them here.
There is room enough among us
For what isn’t clear.
[Chorus]
We carry the question.
Carry it together.
We carry the question.
No one carries alone.
Different roads beneath us—
Still we walk together.
Different words between us—
Still we make a home.
We don’t need one answer
To know that we belong.
We carry the question.
And we carry it along.
[Bridge]
I don’t know everything.
Neither do I.
I don’t need to.
Neither do we.
I can listen.
I can stay.
I can make room.
We can make room.
Maybe unity isn’t knowing
The same thing in the same way.
Maybe unity is standing
Where our differences can stay.
Not erased.
Not corrected.
Not made small.
Still belonging.
[Vamp]
Bring your question.
Bring it here!
Bring your story.
Bring it here!
Bring your road.
Bring it here!
You don’t have to leave yourself outside.
Bring it here!
Different voices.
Still together!
Different answers.
Still together!
Different journeys.
Still together!
Nobody has to disappear
For us to stand together.
Still together!
I carry mine.
I carry mine.
I carry mine.
We carry ours.
And somehow all these questions
Do not close the door.
There is room!
There is room.
There is room!
[Final Chorus]
We carry the question.
Carry it together.
We carry the question.
No one carries alone.
Different roads beneath us—
Still we walk together.
Different words between us—
Still we make a home.
We don’t need one answer
To know that we belong.
We carry the question.
And together we are strong.
[Outro]
My question is still mine.
And mine is still mine.
But none of us is standing alone.
We carry it together.
Together.
Together.
Together.
Still I Say Yes
Only now has the album earned celebration.
“Still I Say Yes” does not celebrate because uncertainty has vanished. The questions remain. Tomorrow remains unknown. The unfinished remains unfinished.
What has changed is the singer’s relationship to all of it.
She chooses participation.
The word yes becomes an affirmation not of guaranteed outcomes but of present life: yes to morning, ordinary work, laughter, tears, relationships, unfinished dreams, breath, movement, and another day.
The song explicitly refuses artificial optimism:
“I am not saying yes because everything is easy.
I am not saying yes because everything makes sense.”
The celebration arises because life does not have to become perfect before it is worth inhabiting.
The gospel modulation finally arrives here because the expansion has been earned. The circumstances have not changed.
The consciousness has.
Lyrics
[Intro]
I still don’t know tomorrow.
I still can’t see around the bend.
But morning found me breathing,
So I’m getting up again.
[Verse 1]
There are questions on the table.
There are pages still undone.
There are roads I haven’t traveled,
There are races never run.
I could spend another lifetime
Waiting till the view is clear.
Or I could open up the curtains
And meet the life that’s here.
[Pre-Chorus]
I don’t need a guarantee.
I don’t need the final sign.
I have breath enough for singing.
I have this day and it is mine.
[Chorus]
Still I say yes!
Say yes!
To the morning in my chest.
Say yes!
I don’t know where this road is going—
Still say yes!
But I’m walking it with everything
I have left.
Say yes!
To this breath.
Yes!
To this day.
Yes!
To the life that’s here
Before me anyway.
I don’t know what comes tomorrow—
But still I say yes.
[Verse 2]
Yes to coffee on the table.
Yes to footsteps down the hall.
Yes to laughter when it finds me.
Yes to tears when they must fall.
Yes to people I can cherish
Without asking them to stay.
Yes to work that’s still unfinished.
Yes to one more ordinary day.
[Pre-Chorus]
I don’t have to call it perfect.
No!
I don’t have to call it planned.
No!
I just have to meet the moment—
Here it is!
With an open heart and open hands.
[Chorus]
Still I say yes!
Say yes!
To the morning in my chest.
Say yes!
I don’t know where this road is going—
Still say yes!
But I’m walking it with everything
I have left.
Say yes!
To this breath.
Yes!
To this day.
Yes!
To the life that’s here
Before me anyway.
I don’t know what comes tomorrow—
But still I say yes.
[Bridge]
I am not saying yes
Because everything is easy.
I am not saying yes
Because everything makes sense.
I am saying yes
Because I am here.
Here.
I am saying yes
Because love is still possible.
Yes.
I am saying yes
Because this unfinished life
Is still a life.
And I want to live it.
[Vamp]
Still I say—
Yes!
When I know—
Yes!
When I don’t—
Yes!
When the road keeps turning—
Still say yes!
Open hands—
Say yes!
One more step—
Say yes!
Let tomorrow be tomorrow—
Say yes to today!
To the question—
Yes!
To the wonder—
Yes!
To the unfinished—
Yes!
To the life that’s happening
Right now—
YES!
[Final Chorus]
Still I say yes!
Say yes!
To the morning in my chest.
Say yes!
I don’t know where this road is going—
Still say yes!
But I’m walking it with everything
I have left.
Say yes!
To this breath.
Yes!
To this day.
Yes!
To this beautiful unfinished life
That meets me anyway.
We don’t know what comes tomorrow—
And still we say yes!
[Refrain]
Still we say—
Yes!
Still we love—
Yes!
Still we sing—
Yes!
Still we’re here—
YES!
[Outro]
Still we say yes.
Still we say yes.
Still we say yes.
To this breath.
To this day.
To this life.
Yes.
YES.
Still We Sing
The album closes not with an answer but with continuation.
After the physical celebration of “Still I Say Yes,” the final song becomes quieter. Chairs settle. Instruments gradually withdraw. The questions that opened the album remain recognizable, but they no longer possess the same authority.
The singer has learned that a journey need not reach a final destination in order to have meaning. A relationship need not last forever to have mattered. A dream may still be becoming. A question may remain open.
And still we sing.
The song gathers fragments of the entire album—one step, open hands, tomorrow, questions, presence, yes—and allows them to become communal memory.
The final choir does not resolve its last phrase completely. The music itself remains open.
That incompletion is deliberate.
The story is still being written.
The road is still unfolding.
The song is still becoming.
And perhaps that is enough.
Lyrics
[Verse 1]
The room is getting quieter.
The chairs are almost still.
Morning hasn’t told us
What tomorrow ever will.
Some questions came here with us.
Some are leaving as they came.
We haven’t found their endings.
But we are not quite the same.
[Pre-Chorus]
I used to think a journey
Had to finish to be true.
Now I know a road can matter
While it’s still carrying you.
[Chorus]
Still we sing.
Still we sing.
When the answer hasn’t come.
Still we sing.
When the road keeps moving
Past the place we thought was home.
Still we sing.
Not because the story’s over.
No.
Not because we understand.
We sing because we’re living
With the unfinished in our hands.
[Verse 2]
There are names I’ll keep remembering.
There are doors I won’t go through.
There are things I couldn’t finish.
There are dreams I’m growing into.
Some days will ask for courage.
Some days will ask for rest.
Some days all that I can offer
May simply be my best.
And that can be enough.
[Pre-Chorus]
One step.
Then another.
Open hands.
Let it come.
Let tomorrow be tomorrow.
Let today become today.
[Chorus]
Still we sing.
Still we sing.
When the answer hasn’t come.
Still we sing.
When the road keeps moving
Past the place we thought was home.
Still we sing.
Not because the story’s over.
No.
Not because we understand.
We sing because we’re living
With the unfinished in our hands.
[Bridge]
We carried the question.
And it stayed a question.
We sat beside the silence.
And the silence let us stay.
We opened up our hands.
We stopped asking life to hurry.
And somewhere in the waiting
We began to hear the music anyway.
Maybe that’s enough.
Maybe that’s the song.
Still singing.
[Refrain]
I don’t know the ending.
Neither do I.
I don’t know the meaning.
We don’t have to.
I know this breath.
I know this room.
I know these voices.
We are here.
Still we love.
Still we love.
Still we hope.
Still we hope.
Still we wonder.
Still we wonder.
Still we walk.
Still we walk.
Still we say yes.
Still we say yes.
Still we’re here.
Still we’re here.
And still—
we sing.
[Final Chorus]
Still we sing.
Still we sing.
When the answer hasn’t come.
Still we sing.
When tomorrow keeps unfolding
Past the places we have known.
Still we sing.
We don’t need the final chapter.
No.
We don’t need the closing line.
This unfinished life is living.
And while it’s living—
it is mine.
[Outro]
There will always be another page.
Another question.
Another road.
Another song.
I don’t know what comes tomorrow.
Still we sing.
I don’t know where this story ends.
Still we sing.
But I am here.
We are here.
And the song is still becoming.
Still we sing.
Still we sing.
Still—
Bonus Track: Amazing Grace
As the bonus track to The Grace of the Unfinished, “Amazing Grace” offers a Universal Gospel reinterpretation of one of sacred music’s most enduring spiritual ideas. Rather than telling a story of being lost and then rescued, the song asks whether grace might have been present from the beginning—quietly accompanying every fear, unanswered question, and unfinished passage of life. Its central realization is not that grace finally arrives, but that the apparent distance from it was never real.
Musically, the song retains the solemn, hymn-like character associated with the idea of Amazing Grace, beginning in intimate reflection and gradually widening into gospel choir, harmonic lift, and communal affirmation. The transformation is from searching to remembering: “I only dreamed that I was lost, and woke to find you there.” In this Universal Gospel understanding, grace is not the reward at the end of the journey. It is the presence that was there throughout it—always near, always home.
Lyrics
AMAZING GRACE
[Verse 1]
I spent so long believing
That grace would come someday,
A hand from somewhere distant
To lead me toward the way.
I waited for a doorway,
A sign that I was known,
Until the quiet showed me
I had never walked alone.
[Chorus]
Amazing grace,
I see it now,
You never were away.
You waited underneath my fear
Through every night and day.
Amazing grace,
I understand:
I never left your care.
I only dreamed that I was lost,
And woke to find you there.
[Verse 2]
I searched beyond the horizon,
I called into the sky,
I asked the world for answers
To tell me who am I.
But every breath was holding
The truth I could not see:
The grace I thought would find me
Was already breathing me.
[Chorus]
Amazing grace,
I see it now,
You never were away.
You waited underneath my fear
Through every night and day.
Amazing grace,
I understand:
I never left your care.
I only dreamed that I was lost,
And woke to find you there.
[Bridge]
Grace was not the road before me.
Grace was not the distant shore.
Grace was not the hand that found me
After I had lost the door.
Grace was in the very breathing
Of the life I called my own.
Grace was there before I knew it.
Grace was always home.
Always home.
Always here.
[Verse 3]
Now when the road grows uncertain,
And answers disappear,
I do not call it absence.
I do not call it fear.
I may forget the knowing.
I may wander through the night.
But wandering cannot sever
What was always joined in light.
[Chorus]
Amazing grace,
I see it now,
You never were away.
You waited underneath my fear
Through every night and day.
Amazing grace,
I understand:
I never left your care.
I only dreamed that I was lost,
And woke to find you there.
[Bridge]
I was never outside love.
Never outside love.
I was never beyond grace.
Never beyond grace.
I was never truly lost.
Only dreaming.
Only sleeping.
Until I remembered.
[Final Chorus]
Amazing grace,
I see it now,
You never were away.
Through every road I could not name,
Through every unfinished day.
Amazing grace,
I understand:
There was nowhere else to be.
The grace I searched the world to find
Was always here in me.
[Refrain]
Amazing grace.
Always here.
Amazing grace.
Always near.
I remember.
I remember.
I remember
what was never gone.
Amazing grace.
Always here.
Amazing grace.
Always near.
I was never lost.
I was waking.
I was waking
all along.
[Outro]
Amazing grace,
I see it now.
No distance.
No divide.
The love I thought I had to find
Was living here inside.
I never left.
Never left.
You never left.
Never left.
Amazing grace.
Always here.
Always home.
Amazing grace.
